I have been practising traditional Chinese acupuncture since 1981
and have wide experience of using acupuncture to treat a broad spectrum
of illness.
I am primarily an acupuncturist. I use dietary therapy and therapeutic
exercise (qigong) as part of the treatment programme and also selectively
use Chinese patent remedies.
TRAINING
I originally trained in the UK for three years at the International
College of Oriental Medicine I first went to China in 1984 to
study for three months at the Nanjing
University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Jiangsu Provincial
Hospital in Nanjing, China. I revisited Nanjing for further clinical
studies in 1987 and 1992.
TEACHING
I taught acupuncture at the London School of Acupuncture where I
was a founder director of the School in 1985. The School merged
with the University
of Westminster in 1995 to create the UK's first BSc degree course
in Acupuncture. I held the post of senior lecturer at the University
until 1997 when I decided to concentrate my work in Dorset.
SPECIALITIES AND INTERESTS
I have made a speciality of treating gynaecological and menstrual
disorders in general, and in particular, infertility and menopausal
problems. I have a special interest in treating digestive and respiratory
problems, fatigue and stress, along with painful conditions such
as arthritis, low back pain and migraine.
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP
I am a member of the British
Acupuncture Council which regulates the acupuncture profession
and ensures the highest standards in both practice and ethics.
